Ty “the NeuroGuy” is the Research Director for Branch Out. He has developed and coordinated our grant funding program for over 7 years, helping to accelerate NeuroCAM research and share its positive impacts with the community. Ty also curates training and community engagement opportunities for our funded researchers to be great scientists in and out of the lab.

Ty’s research expertise ranges from technology assisted psychological assessment, to the benefits of natural environments for our brain, to studies on the impact of sleep for brain health. He received his PhD from the University of Utah and received Branch Out funding for his research as an undergraduate at the University of Alberta.

As a Co-Founder of 8 Bit Cortex, a mental health tech company, Ty brings the entrepreneurial spirit and experience to his role with Branch Out. When not thinking about the brain, Ty can be found trying to escape to the mountains or desert for some hiking.
