This grant supports the application of your neuroCAM research beyond the lab where it can make a real impact in the community. Some examples are provided below and we welcome your impactful ideas!

Important Information

Eligibility and Conditions

  • Funds must facilitate impact for people in the community.
  • The applicant must be affiliated with one of Branch Out’s partnering Universities:
    • University of Alberta
    • University of Calgary
    • University of Lethbridge
    • University of Northern British Columbia
    • University of Toronto
    • University of Saskatchewan
    • University of Victoria
    • MacEwan University
    • Mount Royal University
  • NeuroCAM research must be a component of the project.
  • Funds cannot be used for research costs.
  • It’s recommended to have a community partner as a mentor for the project.
  • The budget must be reasonable and cost-saving measures will improve competitiveness.
  • Projects selected for funding will have to do a consultation with Branch Out to promote project success.
  • Funded grants should acknowledge Branch Out as a sponsor of the initiative.
  • In the case we can’t fund an application in the quarter it is received, we will keep it on file for up to one (1) year for future consideration.

Examples of previously funded projects

  • A knowledge translation event to educate people with lived experience about NeuroCAM.
  • The beginning process to commercialize research.
  • Fees for open access publishing costs.
  • Travel costs (when permissible) to disseminate research ideas.
  • Collaborate with a community organization for an event.
