Dr. Erik Fraunberger

Medical student at the University of Calgary

Dr. Erik Fraunberger is the Co-Chair of the Scientific Review Panel for BranchOut. He has volunteered with the SRP for the past 3 years to review grants and improve the review process. Erik received his PhD from the University of Calgary specializing in the metabolic and inflammatory changes after traumatic brain injury and received BranchOut funding along the way! He is currently in his final year of medical school at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine (Go Echidnas!) and looks forward to pursuing psychiatry as a specialty after graduation.

When Erik isn’t volunteering his time with BranchOut, he sits on the board of the Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured (ARBI) and volunteers as a Fellow for HaloHealth, a Canadian Physician Angel Investor Group, to screen and conduct due diligence on early stage healthtech ventures.

Outside of the clinic and his volunteer engagements, Erik enjoys spending time with his wife, Kim, in the mountains or curling up with a philosophy or psychology book.
